As we continue to visit a decade of Photo Challenges, I decided to go back to February 2009. One thing I’m realizing is the simplicity that was, The Photo Challenge. In a way it brings me back to its roots, giving me a better understanding and in some way, waking up my memories of the vision and direction Trevor Carpenter had given to the Photo Challenge.
Originally back in February 2009, the challenges were daily challenges or weekly themed challenges with a daily variable. In this case the THEME was COLOR and the VARIABLE, a daily changing COLOR, in this case RED. For the entire week Trevor and the Photo Challenge Community shot one image daily with a different color daily.
We’ll adapt our COLOR Challenge to the 2018 Trevor Carpenter Photo Challenge and our ONE SINGLE image per week. Although I usually give a wide liberty of interpretation for every theme, I’d like for us to avoid selective coloring as it’s not at all what this specific Photo Challenge was about. This is a color challenge (NOT B&W) and complementing/contrasting colors could be the key to the most successful images.

2009 Challenge, Day 32: COLOR:RED – Today’s theme for the 2009 Challenge is a color, RED. In fact, all week this week we’re going to shoot a color, a new color each day. Today you must go out and seek anything red. You can capture an overwhelming amount of red, or just an accent of red. See what you can come up with!
Once you’re ready to submit your work to Flickr, you’ve got to do two important things. First, make sure you tag your photos correctly; “2009challenge″. Also, if you haven’t already, join the PhotoChallenge group on Flickr. Then, submit each day’s photo to the group’s pool.
The friendly community guidelines are pretty simple:
- Post one original photograph (Your Image) shot each week per theme posted on this blog to our active community on our Facebook Group or share our images from our Flickr Group. Tag the photo: #10thanniversaryphotochallenge #2018photochallenge #photochallenge #tempusaura
- The shot should be a new shot you took for the current weekly theme, not something from your back catalog or someone else’s image.
- Don’t leave home without your camera. Participating in the 2018 Trevor Carpenter Photo Challenge is fun and easy.
