2013 Challenge, Week 8: Healthcare

Here we are, week 8 and the 2013 Photochallenge is going strong and healthy, There’s no better time to bring in “HEALTHCARE” as our theme and start shooting.

Hopefully we’re all in great health but that doesn’t mean we don’t take care of ourselves to stay that way. From routine checkups to a little maintenance with a Chiropractor, Dentist , Acupuncture or Vaccinations. There’s a multitude of other ways we turn to traditional and alternative healthcare to stay healthy!

Sometimes we need a more personal follow-up with a specialist. Maybe a person dear to our hearts is going through a rough patch! Our continued visits to Healthcare facilities can inspire our photographic senses as we wait long emotional hours in crowded waiting rooms!

Alternative therapies such as acupuncture, massages and hypnosis are slowly becoming alternatives to medication for aching body parts and pain management.

Sometimes we just have to turn to traditional medicine and a Hospital is the best place for a loved one to get better.

This is the opportunity to show us how you take care of your little ailments from colds and  flu to aches and pains. For the more serious conditions there’s often a heart warming story behind every picture. I know first hand as I have my routine visits to the Radio Oncology department and a close friend of mine is on her way back to health from a cancer clinic in Europe!

I realize this theme can be as much fun to shoot for some of us as it can be a difficult way to document pain, suffering and sadness! I encourage you to follow your heart and shoot the best image you can, and share your experiences. We may want to be a little more respectful of people’s privacy in some cases.

About Steve Troletti

I'm a Location Scout, Editorial, Nature, Wildlife and Environmental Photographer based in Malibu, California. I specialize in Nature and Urban Nature photography including Infrared Landscapes. The Bulk of my work takes place in the Los Angeles, California area, Greater Montreal Region, Canada, Switzerland, France and Varese in Northern Italy. Ethical wildlife photography is the main priority and focus of my work. A minimum disturbance of the animals, their habitat and the environment is my top priority. This applies as much to total wilderness areas as it does to urban nature environments. Ongoing education of environmental issues and building awareness for the protection of wildlife and wilderness areas around the world is what drives me to document the beauty that surrounds us.
