2009 Challenge, Day 145: DEATH

"Memorial Day 2007", by Slightlynorth

Today’s theme for the 2009 Challenge is DEATH. Woah! Death? Yeah!

Here in the US, today we’re celebrating a holiday we call Memorial Day. Often folks consider this the threshold weekend to summer, and we mostly have the day off work and school. If you want to learn more about the holiday, go read about it on Wikipedia.

The gist of it is this, we set aside this day to honor those Americans who have died to secure and maintain our freedom. American’s value our freedom, as do most people. Since death generally hits us all at some point, it shouldn’t be too hard to symbolize it for you. If all else fails, swing by a local cemetery.

Once you’re ready to submit your work to Flickr, you’ve got to do two important things. First, make sure you tag your photos correctly; “2009challenge″ and “2009challenge145“. Also, if you haven’t already, join the PhotoChallenge group on Flickr. Then, submit each day’s photo to the group’s pool.

About Steve Troletti

I'm a Location Scout, Editorial, Nature, Wildlife and Environmental Photographer based in Malibu, California. I specialize in Nature and Urban Nature photography including Infrared Landscapes. The Bulk of my work takes place in the Los Angeles, California area, Greater Montreal Region, Canada, Switzerland, France and Varese in Northern Italy. Ethical wildlife photography is the main priority and focus of my work. A minimum disturbance of the animals, their habitat and the environment is my top priority. This applies as much to total wilderness areas as it does to urban nature environments. Ongoing education of environmental issues and building awareness for the protection of wildlife and wilderness areas around the world is what drives me to document the beauty that surrounds us.
